Materials for Projects

We offer grants of free construction materials to community groups and organisations running projects in Cumbria and South West Scotland.

Applications are open on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Further details and guidance on the application process can be found below.

What Do We Offer?

The materials we provide are either new surplus materials from construction building sites, or nearly new pieces. This includes items such as bricks, wood, pipes and paving.
We follow a quality control process to make sure the materials provided are suitable. We only accept materials which are safe and able to be used.

As we collect surplus materials, we can’t guarantee what we will have in stock at any one time.
If your application is successful, we aim to provide as much as we can of your request. In some cases, we may only be able to offer part – particularly if the request is for a large amount.

Who Can We Support?

Your project has to be for a good cause that benefits a community, but doesn’t have to be a registered charity. This includes not-for-profit organisations, community groups, charities and statutory services such as schools or health centres.
We particularly welcome applications for projects which have an environmental or sustainable focus.

At this time we are unable to accept applications from political groups, or faith based groups unless the project can demonstrate a significant positive impact in wider communities and does not seek to further ideologies or causes that may cause concern, harm or upset to others.
We may not be able to support your project if your organisation has recently had a successful application with us. We recommend waiting at least 6 months before applying again.

How To Apply

Step 1: Please complete our application form below.

Step 2: We will review your application and aim to let you know the outcome within 6 weeks.

Step 3: If your application is successful, we will contact you to let you know what we are able to offer and to confirm a date for collection or delivery.

Step 4: Please keep us updated with how the project goes. We will send all successful applicants a short evaluation sheet to gather feedback on the impact of the grant and to collect quotes and photos.
