Rebuild is 5! Rebuild was set up to do three things:- reduce useful stuff going in to a skip on construction sites, give community groups access to materials and start figuring out some of the bits needed for circular economy to work in construction.
We’re building an ambitious, inclusive and proactive business that already has done a lot. The addition of the access to work placements was a happy accident that fits perfectly with our values and the addition of things like Community Repaint, the Tool Library, Refill Shop and skills workshops all strengthened who we are and what we do.
It still feels like we’re just getting started. I know there will be skips even in Carlisle full of things that should have come to us. That there are contractors we could be talking to. That there are customers who haven’t heard of us yet. And that every city should have something like we have in Carlisle.
And we’re just as ambitious and hungry to drive change as ever. The move to the new site last Sept gives us space. We have a brilliant team. We have lottery funding for a Community Officer and we are getting more and more interest in our consulting offer to help explore and develop construction reuse hubs in other parts of the country.
Huge thanks to everyone who supports us- our staff, volunteers, customers, funders, contractors, stakeholders, landlord, followers and champions. Let’s do even more in the next 5 years!
Emma
