Dream Placement at Rebuild: A Brilliant Week with Ella and Zac

This week we were lucky enough to host Ella and Zac as part of the Dream Placement programme, organised by Centre for Leadership Performance, and what a week it’s been.

From day one, both of them threw themselves into life at Rebuild, getting stuck into the shop and depot, asking thoughtful questions, and quickly understanding what we’re trying to achieve through reuse. They arrived having already done their research, and it showed. They were confident, capable, and genuinely curious about how Rebuild works day to day.

A real highlight of the week was their presentation to Cumberland Council, where they helped us speak to colleagues from the capital delivery team about construction reuse, surplus materials, and how social value can work in practice. Ella and Zac played a central role in the session, sharing what they’d learned and confidently representing Rebuild to a professional audience, something they should both be very proud of.

They also created a set of marketing materials for us, including content we’ll be sharing across our social media channels. It’s always refreshing to see Rebuild through fresh eyes, and their work captured the energy, purpose and reality of what we do really well.

Placements like this remind us how powerful it is to give young people real responsibility and trust. Ella and Zac didn’t just observe, they contributed, added value, and made a genuine impact in a short space of time. Thanks to Graham Group for sponsoring our place on the programme.

A huge thank you to both of you. We’ve loved having you with us and wish you all the best for what comes next.
