We’re thrilled to share that The Reuse Hub, a construction materials reuse facility created through our collaboration with ASAN Wood Saints, has officially opened its doors on Dixon Street in Wolverhampton. The grand opening on 6th July marked the culmination of months of hard work from our team.
Shobha Asar-Paul, Chief Officer at All Saints Action Network Ltd, commented, “Reuse hubs deliver positive economic, environmental, and social impact. Joining forces with Rebuild to establish The Reuse Hub will enable us to build on the social value and support we provide to our local communities in and around Wolverhampton.”
To celebrate the launch, we hosted two events. The first, a Community Open Day on Saturday 6th July, gave local people and businesses the chance to come in, explore, and learn more about The Hub. Throughout the day, we welcomed a steady stream of visitors, eager to find out about our materials and products, including beautifully crafted wooden furniture made by our in-house carpenters.
We also held a Corporate Launch Event to raise awareness and gain support from businesses in the construction industry. The event was a huge success, with standing room only, demonstrating the growing interest from the regional construction sector. The Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton kicked off the event, and we had the pleasure of hearing from key supporters, including Sunbelt Rentals and Story Contracting.
Debbie Ward, our Director at Rebuild and Project Lead at The Reuse Hub, said, “We’re delighted with the corporate engagement we’ve seen so far. The construction industry in the UK uses 250 million tonnes of materials and generates 120 million tonnes of waste annually. Initiatives like The Reuse Hub are vital for making better use of our resources and reducing carbon emissions.”
Our model for The Hub is a win-win-win for people, the planet, and the ‘purse’. Construction companies that divert materials save on skip costs, report reduced carbon emissions, and contribute social value. Meanwhile, DIYers, self-builders, gardeners, and crafters who buy materials from us get them at reduced prices. Reused materials have a much lower carbon footprint, and each purchase supports our volunteer programme and skills workshops.
Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands and WMCA chair, added, “The £100,000 funding we’ve provided to help establish this pioneering construction materials Reuse Hub in Wolverhampton is a significant step toward delivering our nationally leading circular economy routemap, which sets out how we’re supporting key sectors to use resources more efficiently.”
The Reuse Hub is open to the public and offers a wide range of construction materials at discounted prices. We’re open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Find us on Facebook at TheReuseHubWolverhampton.
